Bag the goody bag for daughters 7th b'day party?
My daughter has invited 12 friends, all around 7 years old to a tae kwon do birthday party at a local karate place. Its costing like $200, which includes pizza and drinks. I'm making her cake. I'm thinking enough is enough, though. The kids should have a blast (they'll be playing games and learning how to break boards), and I think goody bags are absolutely unnecessary. But she's never been to a party that goody bags weren't part of the "scene". Will anyone really care, and does it matter if they care, or should I stick to my guns and just bag the goody bags?
See if anyone you know has a poloroid camera. Take pics of the kids breaking the boards. Hit the craft store for a set of plain cards that hold photos (you can get a pack of them for about $8) and some inexspensive markers. After the activities are done, between cake and gifts, hand the kids the pictures and let them decorate the "frame" (for another frame, just get white cardstock, cut it into sqaures with about an inch extra on each edge of the photo and make small slits to pop the photo in). The pics would be far more appreciated than some candy and plastic toys and cost less.
