Different Forms Of American Martial Arts
In North America, some of the different variations of martial arts include the American Kenpo Karate, Jeet Kune do, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). The American Kenpo Karate style was developed by Edmund Parker from Hawaii. This particular form of Karate is known for using high frequency moves and is very fast. This style was created to deluge an opponent.
The American Kenpo philosophy includes being able to deal with real life situations. The martial arts community can help an individual to learn this version of the sport that is based on the Chinese version of Kung Fu. Jeet Kune do was developed by Bruce Lee and it is neither a style nor a system but instead it is a process for personal growth and discovery. Usually this style is misunderstood by people because it is a mixture of four different types of fighting. These styles include kicking, boxing, trapping, and grappling. A special martial arts community was created to help people to understand that a blend of core techniques, fighting and combative concepts, tactics, research, training, and experimentation are all parts of this style of fighting.
The US Marines are part of another martial arts community that specializes on three disciplines; mental, physical and character. The MCMAP comprises aspects from Aikido, Judo, BaGuaZhang, and Karate. The purpose of this style of martial arts is to provide marines with the ability to defend themselves when engaging in unarmed combat with an assailant or aggressor. The style's main purpose is to do the most damage possible and hopefully force the attacker to back off.
The MMA style is also known as Ultimate Fighting. Mixed martial arts are a full contact sport that allows a combination of other styles from around the world. This style is supposed to be considered a well-rounded fight. A mixed martial arts community helps provide information on fighting techniques that are traditional and non-traditional. You might have seen MMA on TV because many programs are devoted to this sport in the US. Some people think of this type of martial arts as a free-for-all type of sport. While the rules may seem to be few and far between, rules of engagement do exist.
The martial arts community in the US comprises these four types of martial arts and it also embraces the other types of the sport from around the world.
