Since acrylic is a water based paint the wax should resist bonding with the acrylic and eventually separate. As an aside bit of information, the creation of acrylic paint was the result of chemists trying to develop a polymer adhesive. Problem was that it took too long to set. Then someone came up with the idea to try and add pigment to it. The rest is history. Artist have used glass as a means of creating a sort of acrylic decal. Painting designs on to the glass allowing it to dry then moistening the glass and paint. Since the glass is nonporous the dried sheet of paint usually comes off. The paint can then be applied to another surface using either more paint or a clear acrylic polymer as an adhesive.
