Trophy display or dispose of?
I have a ton of trophies for martial arts competiton. Problem is, how do i display them without being too gaudy or should i just trash them. http://www.geocities.com/avengergt/trophies.jpg
Wow! you have a lot! Cool kick thing too...I can imagine it might be hard to get rid of any trophy that shows your acheivements-but you made the suggestion of trashing them, so it doesn't seem that you are too attached to the "award" itself.
Decorating with all of them would be definatly be gaudy, unless you had an entire room deicated to them-and depending on your situation, that could be a waste of space.
If you want to decorate with your memoribillia-sort and store the ones you dont use. But just use a few, like the most prestigeous, or a sentimental one, or even some that look unique.
Use 1 or 2 diff. sizes on a table with a lamp or something..Then on the wall behind it you could have 1 or 2 of the plaques hanging near a shadow box with some belts/whatever in it. You can hang a picture of you with all those awards near all that.
Also, bring out some of your things you may even use if you are still active in martial arts, and use the decorating space for your sword/stick thing's home when you aren't using it.
If you have Asian inspired decor, this will all work even better. If not, keep it in an office/personal/bedroom type space in your home. In decorating, its nice to keep public rooms less personal-meaning, the photo of you all geared-up, on the top of Mt Everest doesnt need to be in the living room or dining room. Keep personal things like photos and trophies in your office space or your bedroom, den, play room, etc.
But I dont always agree with this rule. Id like my antique framed photo of my grandma with her antiques in the dining room, not my bedroom! Who needs that *looking* at ya!
