As an average artist and photographer, is it worth it to buy an art tablet?
As stated above, I am not an incredible artist. As a "beginner" artist I don't know if it is worth to spend $200 (more or less) on an art tablet.
Obviously, practice makes perfect. ![]()
It seems the Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet is recommended. Or any Wacom tablet that is... I am guessing if I do ever buy one that I would rather get a quality one instead of a cheapio one.
Also, the Wacom Bamboo comes with "the software" if I read that correctly?
I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to art software... I've always just stuck with pencil and paper ![]()
The other thing, I love photo manipulation. Taking a real time photo, but then changing it to look like a painting. Or it having a mystical non-reality atmosphere to it. Are you able to do that kind of photo editing with an art tablet?
Or is it worth it just to work with the software GIMP for now, without an art tablet? I was going to try it either way.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Please send me your thoughts and opinions ^_^
You can do photo editing with both a mouse or tablet. It depends on what other art you want to do. A tablet helps alot with digital-painting in programs where you want to render and color in things.
Changing photos to look like a painting might be solved with a few clicks of the mouse, unless you want to take the time to actually color over parts with a brush. It's basically like using a pen that hooks up with the computer. You can do just about everything it can do with a mouse, but some people feel a tablet gives them better control because they are more used to drawing. I'd say experiment more with your program and those photos before making a decision.
