Is it true that a Martial art in its country of origin has less mcdojos?
Like if one lives in Japan he has more advantage in choosing judo, karate etc other than kung fu or krav maga, as other arts would largely be mcdojos (I m saying largely, not all).
If he is in China, he would take Wing Chun, Sanda, or any Kung Fu.
If Korean, then Hapkido or TKD.
If Brazil, then BJJ........etc.
Or is it like you can learn the authentic M A of one country in another country, like BJJ in Japan, or Krav Maga in UK, etc.
Please make it clear as some of Yahoo answerers say that if u wanna learn kung fu go to china, muay thai go to thailand......
Very much so. You can learn authentic in another country but it takes alot more research and isn't as common. There is no denying you are more likely to get the quality of instruction you need from these areas of the world. Go to Japan for Judo, Thailand for muay thai etc. If you want to be good enough don't worry about it, if you want to be the best than travel. Some of the best fighters and athletes in the world live by this concept. Jimmy pedro is the only american to win the world judo championships and he trained in japan for a long time. Alot of the UFC fighters go to thailand to work on their kickboxing so it is true. However, these people are training for a living and to be the very best at what they do. The average joe doesn't need to do this crap.
