How much does head gear and other body pads protect you?
I realize it is hard to quantify the protection value, but I just wanted to ask something like this:
Would a normal hit that may KO you not do so if you have head gear, or would it still be lights out? What about a chest plate, would it protect from major damage from a kick or knee? Would shin guards protect you from snapping a bone in Muay Thai? That kind of stuff.
Training pads like what you are asking about just give fighters a measure of protection during training so that training injuries can be more easily avoided. They do not protect you entirely and in training and sparring sessions fighters can still knock each other out or knock the wind out of each other as well as sometimes even get ribs cracked or broken. Training pads give them a margin for error but a good, hard hitting pro still has to watch how heavy he is landing his shots so as not to injure his sparring partners.
