How hard do you have to hit to break the 4 martial art rebreakable boards? ?
I got to break a yellow re breakable board the other day from a sensai. It was easy then I broke the blue one. It was pretty easy to. I know I could of broke the red one. I was wondering if I could break the red one is that pretty hard. My martial arts doesn't do board breaking so I don't know.
The kind I was using had 4 colors and difficulty. Here they are!
Yellow- .7
Blue- .8
red- 1.
Black 1.5
If I could break the third level red one does that mean I can hit hard.
I'm only talking about the hand strikes no kicks.
The red re-breakable board is equivalent to a 3/4"x12" square pine board. The black one is equal to two 3/4"x12" boards stacked. Our 1st dan students (adult) must break two 3/4"x12" boards with each strike except speed breaks. we only require one 3/4"x12" board.
If you are a Junior student that is an acceptable level.
If you are in the adult classes you need to work a little harder.
We require very little breaking in practice. We focus on technique. It is technique that breaks boards not so much power. We do not like wasting pine trees.
The plastic re breakable boards do wear out and will get easier to break over time. We have been through quite a few.
The thing about boards is that they hold still for you. If you spend too much time just breaking you can louse up your technique. Your Sensi is wise to have you focus on technique rather than focusing on just breaking. If your technique is great your breaks will be great.
